Discover the glamour of Russian and Oriental textiles and carpets, antique and designer jewellery, Art Deco pieces, country and period antique furniture, contemporary and traditional sculpture and paintings, books and original book illustrations, decorative glass, silver, clocks and objets d’art for the discerning collector and those seeking the finer things in life. This vetted fair is a haven for interior decorators and exudes a friendly atmosphere.

Probably the most unusual items to be found at this annual event, now in its sixth year, are unique pieces from outer space from Fallenstars Meteorites. Found as far afield as Argentina, where they fell 4,000 years ago and more recently in Russia, they make fascinating sculptures. Other newcomers include Art Deco furniture dealer Jeroen Markies; Hickmet Fine Arts with European sculptures and art glass, and traditional furniture restorers Ottery Antiques bringing an exceptional linen press, c1765, priced at £7,850. From Germany comes Galerie Arabesque with Oriental and Russian antique textiles and artefacts including a rare 19th century Russian brocade of metal and silk thread. Picture dealer Ashleigh House Fine Art is also exhibiting for the first time selling Victorian and Edwardian oil paintings.

A decorative feature in this year’s fair celebrates everyone’s love of the English garden. Former Surrey dealer Nicholas Arkell, whose business Walton House Antiques is now based in Wiltshire, is bringing garden statuary, planters, urns and ironwork for those looking to buy a striking highlight for a small urban patio or larger country grounds. Other furniture includes a fine George III period mahogany four poster bed, probably made by Gillows of Lancaster, from WR Harvey & Co (Antiques) Ltd and a 19th century Somerset stick Windsor oak chair from Melody Antiques.

Of local interest are several paintings from the area, most notable amongst which is ‘The Footpath by the Waterlane’ by Myles Birket Foster RWS (1825-1899). The artist, who counted Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris amongst his friends, lived for many years in Witley and moved to Weybridge, where he ended his days. This painting was originally exhibited at The Royal Watercolour Society Summer Exhibition in 1892. This captivating English scene is for sale from John Robertson, priced at £65,000. Other Surrey landscapes can be found on Cambridge Fine Art’s stand and another racecourse is the subject of Peter Biegel’s oil on canvas painted in 1949. ‘The Wokingham Stakes, Royal Ascot’ is priced at £6,000 from The Swan Gallery.

Meet award winning illustrator Angel Dominguez at the launch of ‘Purr & Feather’ on Art of the Imagination’s stand. Dominguez’s exquisite new paintings enrich this limited edition boxed book full of well-loved poems and prose by luminaries like Edward Lear, Ford Madox Ford, William Blake, William Wordsworth, WB Yeats, Hans Christian Andersen and Percy Shelley. Appealing to adults and children alike, each of the 200 hand-bound books is signed and numbered and can be dedicated as a special gift, selling for £175. Each of the original illustrations is also for sale, priced between £1,200 and £1,500.
